United Airlines has been hinting at significant changes to its MileagePlus program and recently appointed Jarrad Fisher as its new president. Fisher, previously involved with Apple and Delta Air Lines, brings a wealth of experience in loyalty programs, especially from his role in launching the successful Apple Card. Industry analysts speculate that United may seek to enhance its partnership with Chase, its banking partner, to better compete with Delta’s strong ties to American Express.
Alongside this leadership change, former American Airlines executive Vasu Raja is joining United as a consultant, focusing on the company’s Kinective Media platform. This restructuring will also see the departures of current MileagePlus CEO Richard Nunn and COO Luc Bondard.
Overall, while specific plans for MileagePlus remain unclear, the changes underscore United Airlines’ intent to innovate and grow its loyalty program.
