Police in Columbus, Ohio, have arrested 39-year-old Michael David McKee, the ex-husband of Monique Tepe, for the shootings of Monique and her husband, Spencer Tepe, both 39. Their bodies were discovered in their home on December 30 after friends alerted authorities when Spencer failed to show up for work. Friends found Spencer in a pool of blood, with the couple’s children screaming in the background.
Preliminary investigations revealed that both victims had died from gunshot wounds. McKee and Monique were married from 2015 to 2017, and the couple was described by their family as loving parents who built a happy life together. Following McKee’s arrest, the Tepe family expressed hope for justice but lamented their devastating loss.
Police believe the murders occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., and video surveillance captured a person of interest near the Tepe home during that time. Police later confirmed that officers initially went to the wrong house in response to the distress call. McKee, a vascular surgeon, is being held in Illinois and is scheduled to appear in court soon. No legal representation for him has yet been confirmed.
