Apple Announces Executive Changes
On December 4, 2025, Apple revealed executive changes, including the appointment of Jennifer Newstead as Senior Vice President and incoming General Counsel starting March 1, 2026. She will succeed Kate Adams, who has held the position since 2017 and will retire late next year. Newstead will also oversee the merging of the legal and government affairs teams.
Lisa Jackson, Vice President of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, will retire at the end of January 2026. Adams will manage the Government Affairs team until her retirement, after which Newstead will take the helm.
Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Adams for her leadership and commitment to privacy and innovation, while also commending Jackson for her contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advocacy.
Newstead, previously Chief Legal Officer at Meta, brings extensive experience from her roles in the U.S. government, including as General Counsel for the Department of State. She expressed excitement about joining Apple and its commitment to innovation and customer focus.
Jackson emphasized her pride in the environmental initiatives she led at Apple, reinforcing the company’s priorities of sustainability and social impact.
