Two Massachusetts men, Logan David Patterson (18) and Dominic Frank Cardoza (20), have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to use commercial fireworks to damage buildings at Harvard Medical School (HMS). The incident occurred around 2:23 a.m. on November 1, 2025, when surveillance captured them approaching the HMS campus, lighting Roman candle fireworks, and then climbing a fence to the construction area of the Goldenson Building.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., a fire alarm notified campus police of an explosion on the fourth floor, where investigators later found a large commercial firework had detonated inside a wooden locker. Surveillance footage shows the suspects inside the building after the explosion and later fleeing.
Patterson was seen later at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, attempting to charge his cell phone and changing his clothing. Witnesses indicated they had been at a Halloween event at Wentworth. The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and fines up to $250,000. Both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The investigation is ongoing, supported by various law enforcement agencies.
