An analysis of over 1.3 million TripAdvisor reviews has highlighted frequent complaints about some of Europe’s iconic beaches, particularly regarding overcrowding. Research conducted by Cloudwards revealed that eight of the ten beaches with the most negative reviews for overcrowding are in Europe.
Bournemouth Beach in the UK topped the complaint list due to cleanliness and frequent overcrowding. Lapelosa Beach in Sardinia, Italy, received the highest global complaints, with nearly 87% of negative reviews citing crowd-related issues. Spiaggia La Cinta, also in Sardinia, followed closely due to similar concerns.
While Greek beaches ranked better overall in terms of overcrowding, they still faced complaints, particularly regarding cleanliness. Baros Beach in Crete had significant cleanliness issues, while Elafonisi Beach also faced high overcrowding complaints. Porto Katsiki in Lefkada was noted for its noise levels, ranking among the world’s loudest beaches.
