A 17-year-old high school student in Frisco, Texas, has been charged with murder after fatally stabbing a 16-year-old student during a confrontation at a track competition on Wednesday morning. Police responded to reports of the stabbing at Kuikendall Stadium around 10 a.m., but despite efforts from emergency personnel, the victim died from his injuries. The victim, identified as Austin Metcalf, was reportedly attacked after he informed the assailant that he was in the wrong place. Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, was nearby and tried to stop the bleeding, holding Austin as he died. Austin was a high-achieving student with a 4.0 GPA and was the MVP of his soccer team.
Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, questioning the upbringing of the alleged assailant and reflecting on his son’s promising future. He noted that Austin was loved by many and a respected leader. The police confirmed the arrest of the 17-year-old, though no bond has been set, and it remains unclear if he has legal representation. The school district suspended the track meet following the incident and assured that counseling support would be available for students and staff affected by the tragedy. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional injuries were reported.
