A preliminary report from the Canada Road Safety Commission revealed that a Delta regional jet, operated by Endeavour Air as flight 4819, flipped upside down while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in February. The investigation found that the landing gear support was broken, and an alarm warned the pilot of a rapid descent just before touchdown, indicating the plane was tilting 7.5 degrees to the right. The incident, which occurred on February 17, resulted in injuries to 21 out of 80 passengers and crew, though all survived. The crash caused the wings, loaded with 6,000 pounds of jet fuel, to separate, leading to a fire and explosion. The cause of the crash and landing gear issues have yet to be determined, with formal conclusions possibly taking up to 600 days. The Canada Transport Safety Commission emphasized that accidents often result from multiple interconnected factors, prompting further examination of various technical and operational aspects related to the incident.
