A recent Gallup poll reveals that the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace is rising rapidly among American workers. Approximately 12% of employed adults report daily use of AI tools, while nearly a quarter use them frequently, and close to half at least a few times a year. This marks a significant increase since 2023, driven by advancements in generative AI tools like ChatGPT.
AI’s growing prevalence is especially notable among technology workers, with about 60% using AI frequently. The financial sector also sees increased reliance on AI for tasks such as data integration and administrative support. Educators, like Joyce Hadjidakis, are using AI for communication and task organization, noting improved interactions with parents.
Despite the push for AI adoption by industries and the government, some economists caution that the impact on productivity and employment remains uncertain. Although many workers feel secure in their jobs, with fewer fearing AI will replace them, some sectors—particularly service-based industries—are lagging in AI utilization.
