A candlelight vigil and prayer service are planned at Kenwood Middle School today from 6 to 8 p.m. following a tragic school bus crash in Carroll County that resulted in the deaths of two students and injuries to several others. Superintendent Dr. Jean Luna Vedder expressed deep sorrow and urged the community to support affected families, highlighting the compassion among those impacted.
On Sunday, a prayer service is also scheduled at Kenwood Baptist Church. The bus, carrying 25 students and five adults, was en route to a competition when it collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer and a TDOT dump truck. Two students died at the scene, while others received treatment at various hospitals; some were airlifted to trauma centers.
Governor Bill Lee has called for prayers for those affected, and counselors will be available at Clarksville-Montgomery County schools to support the community. On Monday, community members are encouraged to wear black and gold, the colors of Kenwood Middle School, in solidarity.
