The Pokémon Company has unveiled the Game Boy Jukebox/Game Music Collection for its 30th anniversary, a compact music player styled like a Nintendo Game Boy. This device uses one of 45 Mini Pokémon Red or Blue cartridges to unlock a track from the original 1996 game, each cartridge featuring a related game screenshot on its inner side. Composer Junichi Masuda emphasized that the audio mimics the Game Boy’s original sound.
Available from Pokémon Centers in North America and the UK starting February 27, 2026, the product is priced at 9,900 yen (around $64/£47) in Japan and will ship in late March. However, it won’t be available in Germany, Australia, or New Zealand. Importantly, the device runs on 3 LR44 alkaline batteries and lacks a headphone jack, positioning it as a novelty item rather than a serious audio product.
The dimensions are approximately 5.2 cm x 8.65 cm x 1.98 cm for the device itself, with cartridges measuring 3.3 cm x 3.7 cm. More details about the Western release and pricing will be provided later.
