Google recently released Android 17 Beta 1, which, while not a major update, introduces a couple of noteworthy features. Users can now remove the “At a Glance” widget from their home screens, allowing for more customization and space for apps. This feature enhances user control over their home screen layout without affecting the lock screen.
Another significant addition is the long-awaited customization options for the Google search bar. Users can now adjust themes, transparency, and shortcuts directly from the search bar, providing more personalization that was previously only available in the standard Google Search widget.
While the current beta version may feel limited, more features are expected in future releases, including a split design for the notification panel, Universal Clipboard, and an App Lock feature. Overall, users are optimistic about the improvements so far and appreciate the enhancements in user flexibility.
