A surfer experienced minor injuries from a shark bite in Australia, marking the fourth attack in three days along the New South Wales coast. The incident occurred at Point Plomer, where the man’s surfboard was bitten. Thankfully, he made it to shore and was treated at a hospital.
In recent prior attacks, a man and a boy suffered serious leg injuries, while another boy’s surfboard was also bitten. Beaches in the area were closed, with authorities urging swimmers to stay away from the ocean due to poor water quality and an increased risk of bull shark activity, especially after recent rains.
An electronic drumline has been set up off Sydney’s coast to monitor large sharks. The calls for safety come in the wake of multiple attacks, including a 12-year-old boy who lost both legs during a separate shark encounter. Officials emphasize the danger and the lack of protective netting at some locations where these attacks occurred.
