Efforts to recover the body of the last Israeli hostage in Gaza are being hindered by severe weather conditions, according to Israeli officials. The hostage, Ran Gviri, was killed while assisting others during an attack. Search operations are on hold until the weather improves, impacting the second phase of a US-brokered ceasefire that requires Hamas to disarm and Israeli forces to withdraw. Over 380 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began, with accusations of violations from both sides.
The floods have devastated shelters for evacuated Palestinians, prompting the UN agency for refugees (UNRWA) to call for more aid. UNRWA’s director expressed urgent concern over the harsh conditions, stating many are facing extreme cold due to the storm, which has also caused building collapses leading to fatalities.
