Connor Bedard will miss the rest of December due to an upper-body injury sustained in a game against the St. Louis Blues. The injury occurred seconds before the end of the game when Blues center Brayden Schenn’s stick lifted Bedard, causing him to fall. Coach Jeff Blashill mentioned the incident was a freak accident, not a result of malice from Schenn.
Bedard, who has 44 points this season, will be reevaluated in January to determine if treatment or surgery is necessary. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks need to enhance their defense and scoring in Bedard’s absence. Tyler Bertuzzi has been performing well, ranking second on the team in points.
The Blackhawks are also dealing with other injuries, including Nick Foligno, who may return soon. As they begin a three-game road trip against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team is focused on maintaining their competitive edge despite Bedard’s absence, aiming to stay in the playoff race.
