A bomb threat targeting United Airlines Flight 512 led to the evacuation of passengers at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Tuesday. Following a report of the threat, the plane was ordered to turn around shortly before landing. Despite the alarming situation, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that the flight landed safely and that no explosives were found.
Audio from air traffic control revealed that the threat was deemed unconfirmed, but necessary precautions were taken. Passengers were disembarked safely, and a ground stop at DCA was implemented shortly after the threat was received, affecting flight operations for several hours.
By 12:50 p.m., flights resumed at DCA, although some were diverted during the closure. The FAA reported significant delays, and this incident marked the second flight disruption at DCA within a week. Other regional airports continued normal operations without interruptions.
