Trimet is set to implement a major improvement project on the East Side of the Willamette River from October 12-18. This project will suspend Max train services in two phases, necessitating shuttle bus replacements.
Phase 1 (October 12):
- Max Blue, Green, and Red Lines will be disrupted between the Rose Quarter Transit Center and Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center, with shuttle bus services available.
- Max Green Line trains will operate along 5th and 6th Avenues, stopping at Union Station/NW 6th and Portland Transit Mall every 15 minutes.
- Max Orange and Yellow lines will run on a normal schedule.
Phase 2 (October 13-18):
- Max Red Line service will be suspended between Gateway/NE 99th Ave and Portland International Airport, with shuttle buses provided at 15-minute intervals.
- Other lines will continue to function normally.
Additional Construction:
- The NE 82nd Ave Max Station is undergoing modernization, enhancing rider safety and comfort, including shelter renovations and light pole installations.
- The project includes replacing critical rail sections to improve system reliability.
Trimet emphasizes the importance of checking service updates on their website, as real-time information will be provided. Riders are urged to plan for extra travel time.
These enhancements are part of Trimet’s commitment to maintaining and upgrading the MAX system, ensuring it remains a safe and reliable transportation option for thousands of daily users. For more information, riders can visit trimet.org/improvements.
