On September 8th and 9th, two Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) ships were attacked off the Tunisian coast. BellingCat analyzed footage and expert testimonies indicating that improvised incendiary ammunition likely came from drones. The first attack targeted the “Family Boat,” causing a fire that the crew extinguished, while Tunisian authorities initially denied hostile intent. However, a subsequent statement classified the incident as a planned attack.
The second strike hit the “Alma” boat shortly after, with the crew again successfully putting out the fire. Videos from both incidents showed similar incendiary munitions, raising concerns over their source.
Expert analyses suggested the ammunition, possibly thermite or smoke grenades, matched known military munitions, including those used by Israeli forces. Tunisia’s Home Ministry later announced an investigation into the attacks, which they now categorize as deliberate rather than accidental.
