Tesla has released a new software update (version 2025.26), which includes the integration of Grok, a language model from Elon Musk’s company Xai. However, this feature has significant limitations. Currently, Grok is only available for US vehicles with AMD infotainment systems made since mid-2021, and it cannot issue commands to the car—functioning similarly to the app on a phone.
The update also introduces minor enhancements, such as light strips that sync with music, customizable audio presets, and improvements to the Dashcam Viewer. Additionally, charging information now includes details on valet and parking, along with an onboarding guide for new Tesla users.
Critics note that Tesla is lagging behind other automakers who have successfully integrated AI interactions directly within their vehicles, as platforms like ChatGPT are more widely utilized. Overall, the update is seen as lacking in significant advancements compared to competitors.
