Surveillance footage allegedly recorded ICE agents urinating at Pico Rivera High School during daylight on June 17. The El Rancho Unified School District is calling for a federal investigation into what they termed “deeply unsettling” behavior, raising concerns about the rights of students and the judgment of ICE agents.
On that day, 8 to 10 unmarked ICE cars were seen in the parking lot of Reuben Salazar High School. School staff allegedly told the agents they could not be on campus without a warrant, after which the agents reportedly complied. However, shortly after leaving, staff witnessed them urinating in public on school grounds.
The district’s review of camera footage from 8:54 AM to 9:04 AM confirmed around 10 agents urinating near a storage container. A letter from the district’s superintendent called for an immediate investigation, requesting identification details of all agents involved. The school district assured the community that while ICE agents were on campus, they did not enter classrooms. The purpose of their presence has not been clarified. Local officials, including LA County Superintendent Janice Hahn, have voiced their concerns about the incident.
