Authorities classified the act as terrorism, with Bartus reportedly planning to livestream the attack. The FBI’s Akil Davis indicated that Bartus had a nihilistic ideology and targeted the facility.
In the aftermath, Bartus’ digital footprint emerged, revealing writings and recordings expressing anti-life sentiments, particularly against in vitro fertilization (IVF). Analysts suggest he may have been linked to a website promoting ‘promoterism,’ a belief system that seeks to minimize suffering by advocating for reduced population.
ISD researchers noted that while Bartus’ views differ from nihilism, they still reflect a dangerous mindset linked to violence. This incident follows a recent report highlighting how nihilistic ideologies contribute to violence in the U.S. and Europe, with ties to various violent acts, including school shootings.
