More than 130 charities and NGOs are calling for the closure of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), citing severe safety violations and a significant number of casualties among Palestinians seeking assistance. Since GHF began operations after Israel’s lockdown in late May, over 500 Palestinians have been killed and about 4,000 injured. Organizations like Oxfam report that aid recipients face daily risks of gunfire from Israeli forces and armed groups.

Israel defends the GHF as a way to bypass Hamas interference and provide direct aid, but critics argue it has led to overcrowding and militarization, forcing vulnerable populations into dangerous conditions. UN agencies have condemned the GHF, stating it militarizes aid efforts and poses risks to civilians.

Allegations have arisen that Israeli soldiers were ordered to shoot at unarmed civilians near aid distribution sites, a claim that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied. The Israeli military is currently reevaluating access to these distribution points, introducing new fencing and signage to enhance safety.

The charities emphasize the dire situation facing Palestinians, with many families weakened by hunger and unable to compete for food at these hazardous locations.
