Keletapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is collaborating with the Ministry of Transport to provide a 24-hour free train service for Thaipusam, running from January 31 to February 1, 2026. Transport Minister Anthony Roque announced that the service will feature a 23% increase in train availability, anticipating nearly 2.5 million passengers during this festival. Additionally, 216 hourly flights to Batu Caves will complement the rail service.
Ticket sales for the event begin on January 26, and payments can be made through various electronic methods. KTMB will also deploy 30 shuttle buses to enhance connectivity, with 24-hour operation across 28 stations, including Batu Caves and KL Sentral. This initiative, costing RM1 million, aims to alleviate congestion by speeding up ticket procurement for both regular and new commuters.
Moreover, KTMB plans to add extra ETS services for the upcoming Lunar New Year due to high demand, with ticket sales starting on January 29. For Hari Raya Aidilfitri, additional ETS services will be introduced from March 13 to March 29 to accommodate increasing travel needs.
