A co-founder of the sex-focused wellness company OneTaste, Nicole Deidon, was sentenced to nine years in prison on forced labor charges and ordered to forfeit $12 million. Prosecutors are seeking a 20-year sentence, emphasizing the emotional and financial damage her actions caused to victims, whom she coerced through manipulation and economic pressure.
Deidon’s attorneys sought a shorter, two-year sentence, highlighting her positive character and influence, with support from notable figures like CNN’s Van Jones and actor Richard Schiff.
During a trial, it was revealed that Deidon and a co-conspirator manipulated victims, many with past sexual trauma, into participating in sexual acts for the company’s principles, claiming it would lead to “freedom” and “enlightenment.”
OneTaste was established in 2004, promoting “orgasm meditation” as a key to sexual and psychological health. The company gained attention in the 2010s but faced scrutiny over its practices, leading to a rebranding as the Institute of OM Foundation by its current owners, who argue that the charges against former executives are unfounded.
