The Israeli military has resumed airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, specifically in the Ikrim al-Tufa region, breaking a ceasefire established in November 2024. Despite the attacks, which have primarily targeted military infrastructure, civilians and civilian infrastructure have been affected.
Airstrikes have reportedly taken place in open areas, with no casualties reported from the latest strikes. Earlier attacks resulted in the death of a 16-year-old Syrian boy and injuries to 29 others in the Bekaa Valley. Since the ceasefire, over 300 people, including 127 civilians, have died due to ongoing violence.
Despite Israel’s claims of targeting Hezbollah, the group has rejected the government’s plans to disarm, citing the continued Israeli occupation and attacks as reasons to maintain its arms. The situation remains tense, with Israeli forces still occupying parts of Lebanon, hindering post-war recovery efforts.
