Norway’s ambassador to Jordan, Mona Juul, has resigned amid scrutiny over her connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Juul was suspended following revelations that Epstein had bequeathed $10 million to her children shortly before his 2019 death. Foreign Minister Espen Wald Eide called her contact with Epstein a “serious error in judgment,” making it difficult to restore necessary trust in her role.
An investigation into Juul’s connections and potential corruption has begun, with authorities also examining links between her husband, Terje Rod Larsen, and Epstein. Juul admitted to inaccurate statements regarding her ties to Epstein, emphasizing these were linked to her husband’s relationship with him.
The Epstein scandal has also affected other prominent figures in Norway, including Crown Princess Mette-Marit and former Prime Minister Torbjorn Jagland, who is currently under investigation for ties to Epstein.
