After losing two consecutive games to top-10 opponents, the ninth-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers rebounded by defeating Rutgers 80-68 at Jersey Mike’s Arena. This victory improved Nebraska’s record to 21-2 overall and 10-2 in the Big Ten, while Rutgers fell to 9-15 and 2-11 in the conference. The win marks Nebraska’s sixth road victory of the season, a new record for the program.
Forward Lianku Mast led the Huskers with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Sam Hoiberg contributed 13 points and several assists. Both teams started strong, but Nebraska pulled ahead significantly early in the second half. Despite a late run by Rutgers, they couldn’t close the gap.
Nebraska excelled in sharing the ball, recording 19 assists against just six turnovers, and matched its previous season’s win total. The game was significant for individual achievements as well, with multiple players scoring in double digits. Nebraska’s next game is against the No. 12 Purdue Boilermakers, scheduled for Tuesday.
