Deloitte, a leading consulting firm, is implementing a significant overhaul of job titles within its U.S. workforce, set to take effect on June 1, 2026. All employees will receive new titles, with notifications beginning on January 29. This change aims to modernize Deloitte’s talent architecture in response to the evolving landscape of consulting, particularly the impacts of AI technology.
The firm currently uses titles such as Partner, Principal, and Managing Director, but will introduce a new “leader” designation. The company acknowledges its existing talent structure is outdated, initially designed for a more homogeneous workforce. As skills and client expectations shift, Deloitte seeks to create titles that better reflect employees’ roles and career levels.
The new structure will detail job families and subfamilies, leading to more specific titles for employees, such as “Senior Consultant, Functional Transformation.” Alphanumeric codes will also be assigned to indicate job levels. While titles and the structure change, day-to-day responsibilities and compensation will remain constant. The aim is to enhance clarity and relevance in the market.
