In London, a 22-year-old Swedish man was arrested while supporting pro-Palestinian activists on a hunger strike protesting their imprisonment. The protest was organized by Prisoners for Palestine, which has been labeled a terrorist organization by the British government. The demonstrators focused on the Aspen Insurance building, linked to Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems, resulting in two activists being arrested for vandalism.
The hunger strike involves eight members of Palestine Action, protesting their detention without bail on various charges. Two of the protesters have been on strike for 52 days and are reportedly in critical condition. The British government has stated that bail and detention issues are for the courts to address. Activist Greta Thunberg, who has faced legal consequences for her participation in protests, has previously been active in similar causes.
