The Washington, D.C. area is expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow this weekend as bitterly cold weather persists. Temperatures will drop below freezing, particularly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, shifting from light rain to snow. Accumulation is expected to continue until around 7 a.m. on Sunday, with temperatures falling throughout the day.
Strong winds will accompany the cold, creating wind chills that could feel like the teens or single digits. D.C. snowplows are scheduled to start road clearing on Saturday evening. Preparations for icy conditions ahead of a Commanders game on Sunday are advised, as temperatures are forecasted to remain below freezing.
Following recent unseasonably low temperatures since Thanksgiving, the forecast for Monday indicates continued cold weather with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.
