The Imaginarium holiday light show at Cal Expo, billed as Northern California’s largest, will not open as scheduled on Wednesday. A spokesperson, Darla Givens, stated that a prior Facebook announcement about reopening was incorrect. The event, originally set to begin on November 21, was abruptly canceled due to “damaged electrical panels” that need replacement. Tickets are still being sold online, and ticket holders can request rescheduling. Givens indicated that those affected will receive email instructions for alternate dates. This year’s show aims to create a dazzling display with over 15 million lights, featuring new attractions such as an illuminated tunnel and covered ice rink. The Imaginarium has evolved from the first U.S. Chinese Lantern Festival in 2011 into what organizers claim is the largest holiday light festival in the nation.
