The Tennessee Titans have fired head coach Brian Callahan after just six games into his second season, following a dismal record of 4-19 overall and a current mark of 1-5. Team president Chad Brinker announced the decision, acknowledging the challenges of such changes but emphasizing the need for improvement to meet the team’s standards.
Callahan’s tenure included the selection of No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward as starting quarterback, but the offense has struggled, scoring only 83 points in the first six games— the fewest since 1985. Frustration peaked during a Week 3 loss to the Colts, leading to fan protests.
Despite a narrow victory against the Cardinals, a subsequent 20-10 loss to the Raiders sealed Callahan’s fate. The Titans have not yet appointed an interim coach. Callahan was hired in 2023 after the dismissal of former coach Mike Vrabel, who is now coaching the New England Patriots.
