The Etihad Railway project in the UAE is set to revolutionize transport with its ambitious 900-kilometer passenger network launching in 2026. Confirmed major stations include Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, with construction underway. The railway promises scenic journeys through the desert and mountains, with top-notch amenities and smart connectivity.
Travel times between cities are efficient, for example, the journey from Abu Dhabi to Dubai will take approximately 30 minutes. The network will also enhance connections to neighboring Oman via the Haffi Rail. Trains designed by CAF will feature various classes, advanced climate control, infotainment, and spacious seating. The passenger experience will be elevated with retail, lounges, and seamless integration with local transit systems.
While the full station list is still undisclosed, the initial rollout will connect 11 regions, with plans for future expansions. The freight network became fully operational in 2023, paving the way for efficient public transport that aligns with the UAE’s broader infrastructure goals.
