The FBI has completed a two-day search near Leavenworth, Washington, related to the case of Travis Decker, who is accused of killing his three daughters. The search, conducted in the Rock Island Campground area, involved over 100 personnel covering more than 247 acres. During the operation, bones were discovered, but it is unclear if they are human or animal; these will be tested at Central Washington University’s Anthropology Department.
This search was the third in the area, following previous efforts by the Washington State Patrol and local sheriff’s offices. The FBI utilized advanced mapping techniques to thoroughly document the terrain. Agencies involved included various sheriff’s offices, the Seattle and Yakima Police Departments, and the U.S. Forest Service.
Further searches are anticipated in September, with plans to incorporate drones and AI technology for investigations. Decker is currently wanted for three counts of first-degree murder and is considered armed and dangerous. A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Authorities advise the public to avoid approaching him and report sightings immediately.
