Peter “Kobe” Nguyen, a self-identified “celebrity pickleball coach,” faced backlash after an altercation with a flight attendant on an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to San Francisco on August 4th. The confrontation arose when Nguyen was caught vaping on the flight, leading to his arrest for violating federal aviation regulations.
In a viral video after his arrest, Nguyen claimed the flight attendant invaded his privacy by opening the bathroom door while he was inside and attempted to take his phone as he filmed her. He criticized the attendant and threatened to share the incident with his 25,000 Instagram followers.
Nguyen expressed that the incident severely harmed his reputation and career, stating it violated his dignity and privacy during the flight. Despite severe online criticism, he remained defiant, later asserting that he aimed for accountability and justice for himself and other passengers.
Interestingly, earlier in the week, he had issued an apology, acknowledging the incident and blaming nicotine withdrawal for his behavior. As a result of this experience, he promised to quit vaping but still sought an apology from the flight attendant.
