Shannon Sharpe will not return to ESPN following his split with the network, according to a report from Athletics. This announcement comes shortly after Sharpe resolved a sexual assault lawsuit filed by a former partner. Although he signed a multi-year deal with ESPN in 2024, he hasn’t appeared on air since the lawsuit emerged in April, during which he described it as a “shakedown” and defended his relationship with the plaintiff.
Sharpe opted to temporarily step away from his ESPN duties, focusing on family and addressing the allegations. The lawsuit was dismissed without bias, preventing the accuser from refiling the case. Buzbee, the attorney for the plaintiff, announced the settlement details via social media, revealing the lawsuit’s termination.
Despite his absence from ESPN, Sharpe continues to work in the podcast industry and is reportedly negotiating a podcast deal worth around $100 million. His media career followed a successful playing career, including two Super Bowl wins and multiple Pro Bowl selections.
