Mohamed Sabri Soliman, a 45-year-old Egyptian citizen, plotted a violent attack motivated by rage against Israel. He targeted a peaceful Jewish demonstration in Boulder, Colorado, injuring 12 people. Soliman, who expressed wishes to kill “Zionists,” carried a homemade flamethrower and Molotov cocktails, shouting “Free Palestine” during the attack.
Recently arrived from Kuwait, Soliman had no significant criminal history in the U.S. He had previously attempted to immigrate but was denied a visa in 2005. After entering the U.S. in 2022 as a non-immigrant, he worked briefly as an accountant and an Uber driver.
Before the attack, he researched weapon-making online and prepared Molotov cocktails, planning a violent act to express his anti-Zionist sentiments. Following his arrest, authorities noted Soliman had no prior indication of extremist beliefs and highlighted an increase in anti-Semitic violence in the area. Soliman now faces federal hate crime charges and state attempted murder accusations.
