Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming game, FBC: Firebreak, will differ from its previous titles like Alan Wake 2, Control, and Max Payne. While those games are linear, single-player, third-person adventures with cutscenes and dialogue, FBC: Firebreak is a first-person cooperative sci-fi horror shooter that emphasizes pickup-and-play mechanics, lacking traditional cutscenes. Set in the same universe as Control, it takes place six years after its events, with players forming a volunteer emergency response team to combat the interdimensional Hiss invasion.
The gameplay features missions called “Jobs,” where players collaborate to complete objectives while overcoming various challenges, such as battling enemies and collecting unique items. Remedy aims for FBC to fit into players’ lives easily, allowing them to jump in and out without feeling like a second job. The developers are not positioning FBC as a competitor to other co-op shooters, focusing instead on creating a fun and accessible experience.
Additionally, there was mention of the game’s performance on lower-spec PCs, and while there are no current plans for a Switch 2 port, the possibility hasn’t been ruled out. FBC: Firebreak is set for release later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and will be available on launch day through GamePass and PS Plus, aiming to broaden its player base.
