A Republican-hosted Legislative City Hall Conference in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, descended into chaos when security guards forcibly removed speaker Teresa Borrenpohl from the event. The incident, which gained significant attention online through a turbulent video, has led to over $120,000 being raised for Borrenpohl’s legal expenses. Coeur D’Alene Police Chief Lee White has dismissed a misdemeanor battery case against her and is investigating whether the security guards violated any laws.
The conference attracted about 450 attendees and was organized by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee. Tensions rose during speeches on contentious topics, leading to interruptions and a call for order from the moderators. Borrenpohl, a former Democratic candidate, questioned the nature of the event and was warned multiple times to refrain from disrupting speakers.
A confrontation ensued when Sheriff Bob Norris intervened. As security personnel began to remove Borrenpohl, witnesses described the situation as violent, with her friends raising concerns about the security guards’ actions and their authority. The guards involved worked for Lear Asset Management, a private security firm that may have violated city ordinances. In light of the incident, Police Chief White has requested the revocation of the business licenses of the guards involved. The event’s organizers had increased security measures following threats against one of the lawmakers present.
